For my research I decided to stick close to home and review the Science on a Sphere at Fiske! While super impressive, I feel like the exhibit doesn’t lend itself very well to interaction. To me, I see the globe as a (very large) display board, with not a lot else going for it. I feel like young children and kids they would lose interest in it quite quickly if they can’t understand the language on the control screen, and even more quickly if they can’t reach or see the screen at all.
However, the sphere is certainly awe inspiring! I think it is a great centerpiece for a planetarium, and showcases a lot of great work done by CU alumni. Maybe there is some way we can incorporate it into our new exhibit and give it new life!
